2008 Connexions West of England becomes a Local Authority controlled company in response to the change in funding arrangements. As part of their Area Based Grant, local authorities will have the Connexions grant from 1 April 2008, making them responsible for delivery of the Connexions service and enabling them to tailor provision to meet local need. This change in the delivery of Connexions is part of a much wider package of reforms and increased funding to enable local authorities to fully invest in young people and ensure that even the most marginalised get the opportunities, the activities and the services they need.
2001 The Connexions Service was established in 2001 in response to the vision set out in the Social Exclusion Units' report ‘Bridging the Gap’ and the White Paper ‘Learning to Succeed’.
