The new version of Your Way Forward - Options @ 18+ is now available. This publication is designed to help young people make key decisions involving higher education; employment or taking a gap year.

The latest figures from our Performance Report show a 2.1 percentage point decrease in the employment without training rate, alongside a 2.2 percentage decrease in the combined NEET/jobs without training group. 
This is thanks to programmes like N-Gage - a programme of learning opportunities for NEET and potential NEET young people which was held this summer through the joint working of Personal Advisers and partner organisations from across North Somerset.
The opportunities focused on engaging young people that required Level 1 or Pre-Level 1 courses and offered progression on to E2E or HE courses in September.

Connexions West of England recently conducted a survey with young people to establish if there are any barriers that they feel restrict them from applying for jobs with recognised training.
Over 100 young people across the West of England completed the web-based survey.
Of those surveyed approximately 50% were currently unemployed, 40% were in full-time education or in work, and 10% with or without training.

On March 11th 2010 hundreds of schools throughout the UK will be taking part in School Report News Day.  Creating their own news they will upload it on video, audio or text on their school websites and the students will then have the opportunity to read, see or hear themselves on the BBC website, radio or TV too.

The Education Business Partnership (EBP) recently supported a special Diploma event for 400 year nine students held at Bath University.
Schools from across Bath and North East Somerset attended the day which was aimed at providing information about Diplomas and how they work.
EBP staff contributed towards the interactive exhibition of Diploma subjects that was part of the morning event at the University's Sports Training Village. Students were also treated to a tour of the campus, a question and answer session with a university student and the opportunity to hear from an employer.
