Equality and diversity

Connexions West believes that being treated equally is essential if young people are going to reach their full potential.

It has an equal opportunities policy that states that young people will be treated equally and fairly regardless of their sex, disability, race, religious belief, ethnic origin, sexuality, background and age. This includes the right to:

• be treated equally
• be listened to
• an equal quality of support and help
• confidentiality
• make comments, suggestions and complaints in confidence and have these acted upon
• make your own informed choices and decisions.

There are many differences between people. This should not result in anyone being treated unfairly. But, unfortunately, this sometimes happens. It can happen in lots of situations including at work or while looking for work, in education and in training.

If you feel you are not being treated as an equal you have the right to complain. Connexions West will be able to put you in touch with organisations especially set up to deal with unfair treatment.
