Chatrooms
Make sure you:
• don’t reveal any personal details (full name, home address, telephone number, email address).
• always keep in the public area of a chatroom. This way everyone can see the conversation and you should be safer.
• never arrange to meet anyone you have met over the internet by yourself. Take an adult and meet in a public place.
Most of what you’ll come across on the internet is legal and harmless. However it is easy to stumble upon information or images that may be unsuitable and upsetting.
Make sure you:
• never download anything from 'pop-ups' that appear on the screen.
• tell your parents or carers about anything you see that seems weird, wrong or illegal. It should be reported to the Internet Watch Foundation.
