Young People’s Information Points

Young People’s Information Points (YPIPs) have been designed to give young people aged 13–19 (or 24 in the case of those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities) easy access to paper and computer-based information about the issues that are most likely to be affecting them, including:

  • Choices
  • Education
  • Free Time
  • Health
  • Housing
  • Law, Rights and Citizenship
  • Money
  • Relationships
  • Travel and Transport
  • Work and Training

YPIPs are also points of access and referral to the services offered by Connexions West and partner agencies.

YPIPS are based in schools, colleges, Connexions West centres and community settings.

The information contained in a YPIP contributes directly to the achievement of the five Every Child Matters outcomes.
These help young people to:

Achieve economic well-being – by challenging aspirations and helping young people to progress into further learning, training or employment and realise their potential.

Be healthy – by helping young people to review and access their decision making and goal setting in relation to health issues.

Enjoy and Achieve – by helping young people to set priorities for learning, work and leisure and to develop a work life balance.

Make a positive contribution – by helping young people to be active citizens, who are actively involved in their communities.

Stay safe – by giving young people opportunities to reflect on risk and behaviour.
