Positive Activities for Young People
The Education and Inspections Act 2006 introduced a new duty on local authorities to secure access to sufficient positive leisure-time activities for young people in their area.
The act also placed new responsibilities on local authorities to:
- Secure access to sufficient youth work activities.
This includes activities that improve young people's personal and social development.
- Gather the views of young people on positive activities; facilities; the need for further provision and the accessibility of provision.
- Publicise and keep up to date information on positive activities and facilities in their area.
- Consider alternative providers to ensure young people can access the range of activities and services discussed during consultation.
