Education at 18+

Photo of woman playing flute There are lots of different types of courses offered in higher education. These are generally above A Level, International Baccalaureate, BTEC National and other Level 3 courses.

Higher education courses are not just offered at universities. Many are now offered at further education colleges. One in nine students entering higher education choose to study at a further education college close to home.

Courses can be familiar in subjects such as art, English, geography and mathematics. They can also be job-related such as nursing, engineering, games design and adventure tourism. Some new non job-related courses are available in subjects such as film studies, popular culture, history of art and astrobiology. The choice is huge!

As with any decision of this kind it’s best to start your research early. Find out what’s offered and where. If you know what career you want to follow make sure you know what qualifications will be needed.

Even if you don’t have a firm career idea, completing a higher education course can give you many advantages in terms of better future prospects and earning power.
