Lifelong learning

To be successful in work it is important to continue your learning. Jobs are constantly changing, demanding new skills from the people employed. If employers are to remain competitive, the skills of their employees must be kept up to date.

Most employers will train their own staff. If you are young this is likely to be through an Apprenticeship.

If you find using words and numbers difficult, there are free courses to help you gain confidence and skills.

If you are out of work there are still ways to improve your skills. There may also be funding to help you to do this.

If you are under 19 (or 25 if you have additional needs) speak to Connexions about local opportunities to continue learning. Speak to the advisers at the JobCentre Plus office if you are 19 or over.
