Work experience

Work experience, when you spend a short time with an employer, is exciting and valuable. It is an opportunity to learn things in a different way.

  • It gives you the chance to find out what work is really like.
  • It will help you become more aware of the links between the skills and knowledge that you are gaining in school and life in the work place.
  • It gives you the chance to find out about particular jobs, and about work in general.
  • It can help you to think about your ambitions in a more realistic and informed way. And it will let you consider a wider range of options.

Your Connexions West of England Work Experience Certificate Log Book/Log Book Plus will help you to understand how your school work and skills will be useful and how you can use your interests to find a great placement.

Use the Plan-it quizzes (within MyPlan4Life) to start thinking about the things you’d like to achieve. You’ll need a password for Plan-it. If you don’t have one from school, ask at your Connexions Centre.
